This globe is an excellent choice. I have reviewed many other globes similar to its design and this was one of the best globes I have found. When I recieved the globe, the content was in perfect condition. The globe has detailed raised relief and a large amount of locations shown on the globe. The globe changes from physical to political globe when the light is turned on inside the globe, this makes the globe well interesting and fun to use.

Nice globe especially when it lights up.
However it looks like it was put together in a rush. There is a noticable and uneven gap around the equator.
Also the metal part is not brass. It feels very cheap, probably aluminum painted to look like brass. Paint makes it look very fake.

This globe is good value for the money. Hayneedle service was outstanding - I ordered two globes, sent them to two different addresses and they arrived intact ahead of schedule.

Comments about Replogle Livingston 12-inch Diam. Tabletop Globe:
Excellent. However as a suggestion the base should be 8 or 10 inches in diameter so as not to wobble so easily when using it. Thank you. Arthur Provencher.

Comments about Replogle Livingston 12-inch Diam. Tabletop Globe:
It's a nice size with a good mix of geographic, oceanographic, and climatic information. I wish the light were a little brighter and it could rotate a little smoother, but otherwise it is well constructed.

Q1: What is the globe made out of? Will it fade or wear away?
A: This globe is made with a hardwood base and a die-cast semi-meridian (cast metal). The globe itself is a hard injection mold faced with a vinyl map. It's printed with a two sided map. Topographical/physical when not lit and political when lit. The outer shell is treated with a coating to prevent fading and wear.
