My daughter wanted a lighted globe for her 30th birthday. She fondly remembered having one as a child, so I ordered a beautiful globe from World Globes. She was thrilled! We have spent a lot of delightful time looking at the map, testing one another on country capitols, etc. To the best of my knowledge, it seems to be a current map of the world. One of the most attractive things about the globe I bought is the black background (the oceans are black, not the traditional blue). This makes everything really pop out. visually. It also makes it more unique looking than the traditional globe. It looks fabulous with the light on, yet it's very readable and attractive when not alight. We are completely pleased and recommend it thoroughly.

I thought this globe looked nicer in the picture then in person, it was nice, and i liked the black ocean instead of the standard blue ocean you see on most globes, however, i was disappointed with the quality of the globe, The stand was sturdy, but the actual globe itself was very thin, and the seam where it was glued together (the equator line) was not smooth, and had gaps in places. I just feel for the price, this should have been constructed better. I do like the fact that it lights up, and it gives a nice glow.

The black is more of a dark gray/green rather than a deep black as pictured. Still very pretty and beautiful when lighted.

First of all, this globe is BEAUTIFUL! It looks even better than the picture shows! My globe arrived in just a few short days after I ordered it, and it was packaged perfectly and already assembled! The light that illuminates it shows off the wonderful places around the world in a magnificent way. I've always wanted to purchase a beautiful, functional globe and you simply can't go wrong with this purchase. I'm excited about the places I want to travel to, and am so glad I bought this!

When I received the globe, I noticed that South Sudan was included on the Globe. YAY! South Sudan is the newest country, which gained it's Independence in July 2011. It's nice to see a globe company keep up with current events. Money well spent.

My gift order of this globe was first back ordered, then delivered 2 days ahead of delivery schedule so my wife picked it up instead of me. The box had labels and tags all over it saying what it was which ruined her surprise gift. I was sad with how this online order worked out.

Q1: How do you change the light bulb?
A: Take the black pin out of the top of the globe and slide the globe ball over the light bulb and out of the semi meridian. Replace the bulb and slip the ball back into place. No tools required.
Q2: Is this ac power or are there batteries?
A: This illuminated globe uses an electrical cord. Typically most illuminated globes use a standard 110v plug and hangs loose from the bottom of the illuminated globe. Attached to the electrical cord is an inline dial type switch that allows you to turn the illumination on or off.
