Description

The Lewis World Globe is a simple yet elegant floor globe. This floor model globe features an attractive, dark cherry finished wood post and base. The handsome 16-inch globe features shell-colored antique or blue oceans and colored landforms with geographical and political borders. A Champagne-toned full meridian is numbered, and the globe rotates a full 360 degrees both left to right and up and down.



About Cram


The George F. Cram Company story dates back to 1867 when George Cram, only two years after fighting for the Union in the Civil War, joined his uncle's business of making city and state maps. In 1869 Cram became the first American publisher to produce a world atlas. The Cram name quickly became synonymous with accuracy and innovation.     This was not an inexpensive globe and I expected something with better construction. The stand is okay, but the globe itself has odd little bumps all over it (not corresponding to mountain ranges) and the map appears to have been poorly glued to the round support surface.

          I handle all the international sales for a good sized (500+ employees) manufacturing company. This globe replaces a desk and floor globe, both of which were out-of-date. I love all the detail and the number of cities shown. It's a wonderful asset for me. The globe is handsome and enhances my office decor. I highly recommend this globe to others requiring international detail. At 16" it is, though, quite large, so be sure you have room for it.
